Yusuf Ağım, born in 1996, graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting. In Ağım’s paintings, there is a structure that is quite protruding from the main surface and resembles a relief with its appearance and material. These works, which have an amorphous appearance, are actually a relative enlargement of certain visual values in the various landscape paintings he made in the previous period.
This situation, which can be called “taking out” a visual value in a traditionally produced landscape painting or, in other words, making a sculpture of the painting, is most generally about questioning the nature of art. The dynamics of Ağım’s work are created by reconsidering his paintings with more contemporary mediums, without removing them from their historical context.
